# Week 02 — Identity & Story
**Unit 1: Lead Yourself • Domain I**
**Essential Question:** Who am I, and what shaped me into that person?
**Key Performance:** Six-Word Memoir + 90-second personal story delivered to a peer.

---

## Day 1 — The Stories We Inherit
**Objective:** SWBAT identify three people, places, or experiences that shaped their identity.
**Do-Now (5):** "Where are you *from* — not the city. The kitchen, the song, the saying."
**Circle (5):** One word for "home." • **Mini-Lesson (10):** Teacher shares an "I Am From" poem (model). Frame: identity = inheritance + choice. • **Practice (25):** Students draft an "I Am From" poem using a template. • **Close (5):** Share one line aloud.

## Day 2 — Six-Word Memoir
**Objective:** SWBAT distill identity into 6 words and explain the choice.
**Do-Now (5):** Show 3 sample six-word memoirs ("For sale: baby shoes, never worn."). React in journal. • **Circle (5):** One-word check-in. • **Mini-Lesson (10):** Constraint = creativity. Walk through 3 student samples. • **Practice (25):** Draft 5 versions. Pair conference. Choose the keeper. • **Close (5):** Post anonymously to a wall; class guesses authorship Friday.

## Day 3 — Story Arc
**Objective:** SWBAT structure a 90-second story using hook → turn → truth.
**Do-Now (5):** Watch a 60-sec StoryCorps clip. Note the turn. • **Circle (5):** "A small moment that changed how I see something." • **Mini-Lesson (10):** Story arc model + sentence frames. • **Practice (25):** Solo draft → triad rehearsal with feedback cards. • **Close (5):** Exit: "My story's turn is ___."

## Day 4 — Tell It
**Objective:** SWBAT deliver a 90-second story to a partner and offer specific feedback.
**Do-Now (5):** "One thing I'm nervous about today is ___." • **Circle (5):** Brave check-in. • **Mini-Lesson (10):** Listener's job — eyes, ear, echo. Re-voice protocol. • **Practice (25):** Two rounds of paired delivery (different partner each round) + feedback. • **Close (5):** Self-rate confidence pre/post on a 1–5; reflect in journal.

## Day 5 — Friday Circle: Story Showcase
**Do-Now (5):** Reveal author of each six-word memoir on the wall. • **Circle (25):** 4 volunteer storytellers (rotate weekly so all 20 share by end of semester) + standard Friday circle. • **Practice (15):** Portfolio upload — poem, memoir, story (audio recording). Peer shout-outs. • **Close (5):** Leader of the Week.

## Assessment
4-pt rubric on the 90-second story: **Identity clarity • Arc (hook/turn/truth) • Voice • Listener impact** (cross-references RLP Self-awareness + Communication).
## Differentiation
ML/EL — story can be told in home language with a 1-line English summary; written submission accepted in lieu of oral delivery if student opts in by Day 2.
## Sub Plan
Use teacher-recorded video of mini-lesson; silent drafting; pair share if class is steady.
## Stretch & Swap
Bring in a guest storyteller (alum) Day 5 to share their own 90-second story before student share.
